Ponte Alta do Tocantins County, 180 kilometers from Palmas, eastern state, is known as the gateway to the tourist region called “Enchantments of Jalapão”. In July it received from Adtur – Tourist Development Agency, a Tourist Welcoming Center (CAT), built in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism (Mtur). The building was inaugurated by Director of Tourism Antonio Malan, after a term of concession for the operation of the building was signed by Mayer Arthur Alcides de Souza Barros.
Ponte Alta’s CAT was built under Mtur’s standard design, same used in previous inaugurated buildings in Itaguatins, Dianópolis and Formoso do Araguaia, complete with audiovisual equipment and furniture. At Ponte Alta’s CAT were spent R$ 44,273.00 of R$ 200 thousand obtained from the Ministry of Tourism with an additional R$ 49,256.00 given by the State.
Adtur is responsible for providing CAT with brochures of tourist routes to be distributed to visitors. According to the director, “the town’s administration should have the building fully functioning, should provide staff throughout the year, especially during the beach season, when the number of tourists increases considerably”.
