The 18th season of the American reality show Survivor, "Survivor: Tocantins - The Brazilian Highlands", produced by CBS TV network, opens in the United States February 12.
The program was filmed between October and December 2008 in the region known as Desert of Jalapão (jalapao">www.to.gov.br/jalapao), a stark area of amazing beauty and great appeal for adventure tourism, located in eastern Tocantins State. This is the second time Survivor is filmed in Brazil. In 2002 the Amazon was chosen as its scenario.
This edition has 16 participants, all Americans, which are divided into two tribes in the reality show: Jalapão and Timbira. Participants are truly marked by diversity: a football coach, an army sergeant, a lawyer, a cyclist, models, a hairdresser, a shop owner, a school director, a manager, a bus driver, a consultant, a farmer, a student, a waitress and even an ex “pop star" from Nashville.
